Inpatient Services
The Victoria Clinic provides inpatient care to people with a psychiatric illness.
The program includes:
- Psychological Interventions: Groups based on the Cognitive Behavioural Therapy
- Inpatient Program offering therapy groups, psycho-educational groups and skills training groups
- Individual Therapy Sessions
- Community networking and assistance with social support
- Creative Art Therapy
- Physical Therapies (e.g. yoga, tai chi)
The group program is designed over a three-week period, which runs on weekdays and rotates every 21 days. Patients may participate in the program at any time. The broad aims of the program are based on:
- Symptom reduction
- Increasing motivation to change
- Teaching skills and coping strategies to manage at home
- Building community and social resources, and
- Improving ego strength
The long-term goals of the Inpatient Program are to prepare patients for entry into potential CBT based Day Programs for the treatment of depression and anxiety.
