Know your Midwives scheme
The Private KYM scheme at Hobart Private Hospital is a new and unique program for privately insured women and those who are self-insured. The KYM model gives women the best of both obstetrician and midwife care.
Women will alternate visits between their obstetrician and the KYM midwives. This will allow them to form a relationship with their private obstetrician as well as meeting and forming close ties with a small group of midwives. Midwives.
The KYM midwives will care for you:
- During the antenatal period
- Through the labor
- Once your baby has been born
- You can familiarize yourself with the hospital staff and routines before you go into labour – less of a “fear of the unknown”
- You form a trusting relationship with the midwives
- Reduced waiting times in busy doctors rooms
- High feeling of confidence and birth satisfaction
- Safe outcomes for you and your baby
