Your Stay with us
Your doctor arranges your admission to Tweed Day Surgery. You will be given an admission form to be completed and returned to the hospital as soon as possible (at least 48 hours prior to your admission). Please call us on (07) 5599 5522 after 12noon on the day prior to your admission to check the time to arrive for admission. You should shower at home on the morning of your surgery and you should leave jewellery (you may wear a wedding ring) and other valuables at home or with your escort. Please wear loose comfortable clothing and low-heeled shoes. You should not wear make-up, nail polish or contact lenses on the day of surgery.
If you are on medication, you should continue to take all your usual medications with a sip of water unless otherwise instructed by your Doctor. If you are a diabetic do not take your insulin or diabetic tablets while you are fasting. Make sure you bring any medications that are due during the day of your admission. If you have had x-rays or tests done relating to your condition/surgery, prior to admission please bring these with you on the day of surgery.
You will be required to fast (not eat or drink anything) from midnight on the night prior to a morning procedure or six hours prior to admission for an afternoon procedure for a general anaesthetic. If you are having a local anaesthetic you will not be required to fast. Refreshments will be served to you after your procedure and recovery. If you require a special diet please inform staff prior to your admission.
If you have any questions or wish to address any concerns that you may have about your stay with us you will be referred to one of our nursing staff that will be happy to help you. On arrival, please visit the main reception area.
