Healthscope owns, or manages, 47 medical/surgical, rehabilitation and psychiatric hospitals. In addition, operates a leading pathology business with facilities in Australia and Overseas. The company was formed in 1985 and listed on the Australian Stock Exchange in 1994.

Opening in 1979, Allamanda Private Hospital has been providing high quality healthcare to the wider Gold Coast community for over 30 years. This 252 bed hospital provides Medical, Surgical, Emergency, Rehabilitation and Outpatient services to over 10,000 patients a year. Allamanda Private Hospital is accredited by the Australian Council on Healthcare Standards (ACHS) who work with us in establishing standards and procedures, which underpin our primary goal to provide the best quality of service and care.

Allamanda would not be the hospital it is without our volunteers, who make a highly valued contribution to the hospital. They assist our staff in greeting and transferring patients, as well as visiting and assisting patients.

Hospital in the Home

Allamanda Private Hospital has the only Hospital in the Home service on the Gold Coast. Hospital in the Home (HITH) is the provision of a safe, effective and efficient alternative to acute in-hospital care for certain patients. The outreach program covers patients who would otherwise be in hospital but now have the resources to be treated in their home.

HITH is a stand-alone unit of Allamanda Private Hospital providing a service delivery that ensures you maintain confidence and independence, within a flexible service that meets your needs. Home is defined as the patient’s usual or temporary place of residence, e.g. their home or an aged care facility.

HITH staff work in consultation with you and your carer; your medical specialist and the nursing staff will assess your suitability to participate in the program.

Your individual care requirements are planned with you, together with your doctor and nursing staff; you will be visited by Allamanda Private Hospital Nursing staff on a daily basis and your doctor will advise on the number of days required in HITH. Your observations will be recorded and assessed – just as they would be in hospital and any changes in your condition would receive immediate action.

The HITH staff are on call 24 hours a day, seven days a week. They can be contacted on (07) 5532 6444 and asking to speak to the HITH coordinator. So you can be assured that care and advice is available 24 hours a day.

The assistance available through the HITH program includes:

Intravenous Antibiotics
Advanced Wound Management
Specialised Medication Management (e.g. selected Chemotherapy, Anticoagulants)
Allied Health Services
Coordination of Medical Equipment

HITH is a direct substitute for in-patient care and is billed to your Health Fund.
