Psychiatric Services at Northpark Private Hospital
Inpatient Program East Unit is a 33 bed inpatient facility that provides a supportive environment and structured program designed to promote recovery. Patients are admitted under the supervision of a consultant psychiatrist. The inpatient therapy programs are both structured yet flexible to meet individual needs. From individual counselling to group therapy, the care is delivered in a variety of settings and uses a range of therapeutic models including cognitive behavioural therapy, group and individual psychotherapy and skills development. Medical treatments include medication therapy, electroconvulsive therapy (ECT) and Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) Day Program A range of programs to meet individual requirements is available on an outpatient basis. Other groups are offered periodically. A quarterly Program Calendar is available from the Therapy Co-ordinator. Outreach The Outreach Team provides an in home visiting service to care for clients who are unable to undergo a period of hospitalisation or who require care and support prior to or following an inpatient stay. The Outreach Team is available to provide professional psychiatric care to clients experiencing a psychiatric disorder. It may also be a useful option when there is a waiting list for admission to East Unit. Outpatients In situations where a person is in need of an immediate psychiatric assessment, a consultation can be arranged with an accredited Northpark Psychiatrist.
