Our Equipment
Our 3T wide aperture, short bore Siemens MRI Scanner is the most technologically advanced MRI scanner within the clinical market. It is also the most patient friendly MRI scanner available due to its speed of imaging and wider patient aperture. This combines to allow shorter scan times in a more comfortable environment for the patient. The scanner is ideal for larger patients and for people who suffer from claustrophobia. Preparation for your testWhen arranging your appointment our staff will advise you of the preparation procedures you will required to perform prior to your test.
If you have any questions related to any of the preparations, please contact us on 07 3834 6125. What to wear for MRI examinationsTry and wear comfortable and loose fitting clothing, without metal zips or fasteners if possible. This should reduce the requirement to change you into a hospital gown. Make sure you remove all jewellery and do not wear heavy makeup or mascara.
MRI SafetyBecause of the strong magnetic fields and fluctuating gradient magnetic fields associated with MRI scanners please be aware of the following safety precautions:
If you have any of the following, contact the department immediately:
· Current or previous Cardiac Pacemaker
· Aneurysm clips in your brain
· Neural or Spinal Stimulator device
· Cochlear implant
If you have had a penetrating eye injury with a metal object or foreign body, please phone the department. We may need to arrange an x-ray prior to your MRI.
MRI Contrast agentsSometimes we need to give an injection of a gadolinium-based contrast agent as part of the MRI examination. This is often required where patients have had surgery at the site we are imaging or for angiographic studies. Some specialised Abdominal and Pelvic MRI exams will also require contrast. Please let us know if you are suffering any renal impairment at the time of your appointment booking. We may need to arrange a blood test to determine your current renal function.
If you have any questions related to any of the preparations, please contact us on 07 3834 6125.
ParkingParking is available in the Brisbane Private Hospital carpark (see map below).
AccountsPlease make arrangements for full payments on the day of your appointment.
