Since the hospital opened in the Croudace Building in 1994 services have continued to expand which resulted in development of the Kingston Building in 2004 making the hospital a 171 bed facility, the largest private hospital provider in Newcastle.
Newcastle Private Hospital has been owned and operated by Healthscope since 1st June, 2007 providing the hospital with the support of an organisation that is a leading private health care provider within Australia that operates in every State and Territory.
The day to day operations of Newcastle Private Hospital are managed by the General Manager, Ian Maytom and Director of Nursing, Barbara Durrant. They are responsible for a team of experienced managers who oversee operations in each department of the hospital to ensure Newcastle Private Hospital achieves the highest standards of ethics and behaviour.
The hospital's policies governing the quality and safety of health care are aimed at further improving Clinical Risk Management across the facility which ensures that patient care is delivered effectively and safely.
