Account Settlement
If you have private health cover that includes hospital cover your hospital account can be forwarded directly to your health fund for assessment and payment.
Where there is a difference between your private health fund hospital cover benefit and the hospital charges we will send you an account for the remaining balance.
If you do not have private health cover we will prepare an estimate of costs which will be available when you visit the hospital to complete your registration. This amount must be paid on admission. Newcastle Private Hospital accepts all major credit cards.

Doctor's Fees
Doctors (eg. surgeons and assistants, anaesthetists, paediatritions, pathologists, radiologists) will bill you separately for professional services.

Other Fees
You may also receive a separate account for any services provided by our Allied Health providers, such as Pharmacy, Physiotherapy, Psychology or Social Worker. If you have private health cover you may be covered for some of these costs. Please contact your health fund to confirm.

Medicare pays 75% of the Commonwealth Government's Schedule Fee for costs charged by doctors and other medical service providers during your stay. If you have private health cover your fund may cover the 25% balance of the Schedule Fee. Medicare does not cover hospital charges for items such as accommodation, theatre fees, prothesis, pharmacy.

Workers Compensation / Third Party / Public Liability
Patients with claims against Third Party and/or Public Liability insurers must pay their account in full prior to admission.

Department of Veteran's Affairs
Before we can admit a Department of Veteran's Affairs patient, we need your doctor to obtain approval from the Department.
