Education and Training

Healthscope’s Allamanda Private Hospital recognises the integral need for education as a basis for the continuing professional growth and development of our nurses. Through the utilization of on-site lecture rooms, local facilities, and nationally accredited lecturers and programs, we are able to provide for a vast array of specific training needs from clinical to business, marketing and IT subject matter.

Staff development is not just about education. It’s about an individual’s professional and personal growth. Our team will provide support within the Performance Management Program, to ensure that every nurse is given the opportunities to improve in areas of interest or need.

Our hospital is home to international recruits of many cultures. They bring with them the perspectives, experiences and practices of varied nursing backgrounds and provide us with opportunities to learn and appreciate diversity in nursing.

Allamanda has developed a new Graduate Nurse program in line with the expectations and demands of tertiary trained graduate nurses. Clinical support from the Staff Development team, monthly education lectures, ward support through hospital-certified preceptors, debriefing sessions and social events are elements of the Graduate Nurse programs. Rotations are 3 monthly; however, flexibility is available in regards to areas of specialty and hours of work, in order to cater for those who have obligations such as family or study requirements.

Healthscope is continuing its national development through innovative ideas and change regarding training the nurses of tomorrow. We look forward to the development of an inter-hospital teaching department to oversee nursing students, and the utilization of the expertise of our qualified trainers to provide certified vocational courses on demand.
