What makes Knox Private Hospital special

Accident and Emergency Services

The friendly and experienced emergency staff at Knox Private offer professional and timely treatment to all members of the community.  Our highly skilled team provide 24-hour quality care with ready access to technologically, advanced Radiology, Pathology and other support services.  Our Short Stay Ward provides a comfortable environment for patients requiring short-term admission and our specialist wards and departments deliver appropriate inpatient care to those requiring emergency admission.

Cardiac Rehabilitation Service

We provide inpatient (phase 1) education and outpatient (phase 2) cardiac rehabilitation and secondary prevention programs.  The programs offered are a four-week day program for patients who are recovering from open heart surgery, heart attack, angioplasty and stent insertion and coronary artery disease.  An evening four-week fast track program for patients having had angioplasty and stent insertion or coronary artery disease and an eight-week heart failure program for patients with heart failure are also available.

Our programs follow the guidelines set by the National Heart Foundation.

Care in the Home Service

We provide care in the home environment enabling the patients to have an early discharge from hospital and to be treated in the comfort of their own homes.  Other advantages of home care are the reduction in the risk of infection, less disruption to lifestyle and empowering the individual to become active participants in their recovery care plan.

Critical Care Unit

The Critical Care Unit consists of two specialised areas: Coronary Care and Intensive Care.

All coronary care patients are managed by their consultant cardiologists, with 24 hour cover provided by experienced medical specialists to ensure that each patient receives immediate attention should an emergency arise.

The Intensive Care Unit has been designed to provide highly specialised nursing and medical care to critically ill patients and those requiring High Dependency Care with continuous monitoring.

Day Procedure Unit

The Day Procedure Unit provides support and expert care to patients who are undergoing a wide variety of minor surgical or medical procedures or diagnostic tests.  The Unit is specifically for patients who do not require an extended stay in our hospital, usually enabling them to return home shortly after their procedure.

Maternity Services

The Risby Maternity Unit prides itself on its team of highly trained and competent midwives. Our staff are trained in the latest birthing techniques and neonatal care, ensuring the smooth birth of your baby

The prenatal education program provides a variety of classes with times to suit each couple’s individual needs.  All rooms within the unit feature an ensuite, nurse call handset, television and telephone.

Partners/husbands are encouraged to participate in all aspects of their wife/partners birthing experience and to stay after the birth of their child.  The three birthing rooms have ensuite facilities with a deep bath for relaxing through labour.  The unit has 12 post natal beds, nine rooms with double beds.
