Your admission
Should you require inpatient care, your doctor will provide you with an admission pack. You will need to complete the forms in the pack and return them to our service desk (located on the ground floor to the right of our reception desk) as soon as possible. If you need any assistance completing the forms our friendly staff will be more than happy to help. The service desk is open from 8.00am to 5.00pm Monday to Friday.
If your admission involves surgery your doctor should also provide information about your procedure along with advice on the steps you need to take prior to surgery. In most circumstances this would include a consultation with an anaesthetist and a visit to our Pre-Admission Clinic.
On the day of your admission (your doctor will have advised what time you should present to the hospital) you will need to report to our admission desk located on the first floor outside our theatre facilities.
At the time of admission you will be asked to complete a check-in slip and provide a credit card to underwrite any charges you may incur during your hospital admission that are not directly related to your treatment, for example phone charge cards, purchases from the hospitality trolley and additional meals for family members.
During your stay
Mail: Any mail received for you during your inpatient stay will be delivered to you each day. Please ask your friends and relatives to include your first name as well as your surname and the name of your ward when writing to you to ensure there is no delay in receiving mail.
Stamped mail may be left at the ward nurses station for posting. Stamps may be purchased at the gift shop on the ground floor or from the hospitality services trolley.
Medical Certificates: Should you require a medical certificate for any reason you will need to ask your doctor. If you require assistance in organising this, please ask one of our friendly staff who will be happy to advise the doctor of your requirement.
Medication: Please ensure you bring your current prescriptions and medications with you. You will also need your pension, concession or safety net card if you have one. If new medications are prescribed while you are in hospital, they will be provided for you. Drugs prescribed for pre-existing ailments or principally for discharge will be charged to your account with payment required at the time of discharge. Pharmacists are available to assist in arranging medication supplies and counselling patients on their use. Dressing that may be required on discharge can be purchased from the ground floor pharmacy.
Mobile telephones: Mobile telephones can interfere with medical equipment and we would prefer you keep your mobile telephone use to a minimum.
Money and valuables: Whilst every care is taken to ensure the security of patients personal belongings, we strongly recommend that you do not bring large sums of money or valuables to hospital.
Surveys: Yours thoughts and opinions are importance to us. You will find a customer service survey in the brochure holder near your bed. Please feel free to let us know what you think about our services and how they might be improved.
Going home
Once your doctor has approved your discharge our staff will assist you in preparing for your return home. The paperwork relating to your discharge from our hospital will also be managed by our staff in this area so make sure you stop by prior to leaving the hospital to ensure that your paperwork has been processed and most importantly, that you have signed the claim form for your hospital stay.
Please make sure you take with you any documents you require for your post hospital stay including x-rays and medications.
If you require any further care or services following discharge, this will be discussed with you during your stay and assistance provided for arrangements that are required to be made.
