Accreditation

Dorset Rehabilitation Centre is a 30-bed fully accreditated member of the Australian Council on Healthcare Standards (www.achs.org.au) who work with us in establishing standards and procedures, which underpin our primary goal to provide the best quality of service and care. Dorset Rehabilitation Centre received a full four-year accreditation in July 2006. In September 2008, Dorset Rehabilitation Centre achieved EA (excellence) in Consent Processes, Infection Control, Organisational Wide Risk Management, Incidents and Complaints; and Safe Practice and Environment. The next scheduled ACHS Organisational Wide Survey is due September 2010.

The Executive Team are commended on a pro-active approach to planning, monitoring improved standards of care, innovative practice and service delivery. Dorset Rehabilitation Centre strives for continuous improvement in the quality of its services.  We have developed and are continually reviewing our quality action plan to achieve this.  Some of the key projects include: 
 

  • Review of all Dorset Policies and Procedures and to implement move to an electronically based system. 
  • Introduction of monthly documentation audits. 
  • Review of Patient Information.  The introduction of Patient Compendiums in each room for easy access of updated information and feedback brochures for patients and families.
