Accreditation
Knox Private Hospital is accredited by the Australian Council on Healthcare Standards (www.achs.org.au). Following our most recent accreditation survey on 2 - 4 August 2005 we were pleased to receive the following commendations:
- An Outstanding Achievement (OA) for our Manual Handling management (5.1.5) - ’This excellent example has a strong focus on the elimination of manual handling tasks.’
- An Excellent Achievement (EA) for our Waste Management procedures (5.1.9) - ’Results show Knox Private has substantially lower environmental services costs than other like hospitals.’
- Commendation (4.1.4) for " The HIS maintains a Privacy Database which records and tracks all requests for access to the health record. The database provides data on the number, type of request and timeliness of responses."
Knox Private Hopsital strives for continuous improvement in the quality of its services. We have developed and are continually reviewing our quality action plan to achieve this. Some of the key projects include:
- Reduction in Medication Errors - this project has just been recognised and awarded a Medibank Grant to contribute to the rollout within the hospital.
- Safer Systems Saving Lives (SSSL) - a DHS initiative, consisting of various projects aimed at improved patient outcomes.
- Introduction of the ’Time-out’ practice within theatre, whereby a last minute check of the patient and the documentation is done by all concerned for: ’right surgeon, right patient, right procedure, right side.’
Please contact the General Manager if you have any questions about the accreditation or quality improvement program.
