Accreditation

Bellbird Private Hospital is accredited by the Australian Council on Healthcare Standards (www.achs.org.au).  The ACHS work with us in establishing standards and procedures, which underpin our primary goals of excellence in care and service delivery.

At recent periodic review survey held on January 28, 2009 the surveyors awarded continuing accreditation status to the hospital. Under the EQuIP 4 program we achieved four (4) EA (excellence) ratings in the areas of Health Information Management, Infection Control, Continious Quality Improvement and Credentialling processes.

During the survey the hospital was commended for the pre-survey documentation which once again demonstrated an understanding of the commitment by staff to quality improvement. The surveyors noted that a strong culture of improving performance and risk management exists at the hospital with demonstrable outcomes.

The substansial improvements in workplace health and safety were also commended. Noteworthy improvement activities and projects included:

  • Establishment of the Australian Hip Institute
  • Innovative use of the appointed consumer consultants in policy review
  • Development of community relationships
  • Completion of a major redevelopment project (consulting suites)

Whilst the surveyors identified some areas for improvement these were made mainly as suggestions. The only recommendation received was that "the hospital continue on its "quality journey" and take the existing (and future) quality improvement activities through more rigourous evaluation of outcomes."

Please contact the General Manager if you have any questions about the accreditation or quality improvement program.
