Accreditation
The Victoria Clinic participates in the ACHS Quality Improvement Program and has undergone a Periodic Review on the 9th September 2005. This onsite survey was used to help the organisation maintain its momentum for continuous improvement. The result of this survey was that all criteria were met by the clinic with reports identifying the high quality and safety of care and services within the organisation. The Victoria Clinic was pleased to receive the following commendations:
- The ACHS commended The Victoria Clinic on their team approach developed to manage change along with its commitment to the Equip principals.
- The ACHS reported that there was evidence of a range of quality improvement activities, evaluation, and audits focusing on outcomes with recommendations being actioned, followed up with feedback being given to staff and patients, completing the quality cycle.
- The Victoria clinic was commended by the ACHS Surveyors for the recruitment of a Consumer Consultant with this being a priority to enhance the listening systems currently in place for clients and carers to participate in the service delivery of the clinic.
- ACHS Surveyors comments noted that there is a culture of improving performance and a team approach to safety, quality and care, which has provided the opportunity to involve more staff in the Q.I. process.
The Victoria Clinic strives for continuous improvement in the quality of its services. We have developed and are continually reviewing our quality action plan to achieve this. Some of the key projects include:
- An emergency plan has been developed and implemented that identifies the key risks to TVC and the path of action to be undertaken in the event of each of these emergencies. Clinical and operational risks have been identified and audits, training and drills implemented to monitor performance and review improvements.
- The Victoria Clinic is part of a working party currently reviewing all current patient impression surveys. These include; Inpatient, Rehabilitation, Maternity and Day procedures and when completed will increase the opportunity for benchmarking. A pilot of the new hospital inpatient survey has commenced at The Victoria Clinic and the clinic has provided input for a benchmarking collation spreadsheet.
- A Discharge Planning and ongoing Support project to consolidate all areas of discharge planning into one comprehensive program. This quality improvement project will improve the health and well-being of patients, decrease length of stay, decrease hospital readmissions and improve patient, carer and hospital staff satisfaction during the discharge process.
