Como Private Hospital is accredited by the Australian Council on Healthcare Standards (www.achs.org.au). Following our most recent accreditation survey on 28-29th September 2005, we were pleased to receive the following commendations:

Continuum of Care - Falls prevention program; Fasting for surgery project; Prevention of Pressure Ulcer program have yielded significant results for improving patient care and publication in nursing journals.
Patient satisfaction - mean scores for preadmission satisfaction and Day Surgery satisfaction in all areas are higher than Australian private hospitals industry benchmark.
Strong foundations for OH&S program with good representation from staff groups, proactive RTW resulting in cost savings and improvement.

Como Private Hospital strives for continuous improvement in the quality of its services. We have developed and are continually reviewing our quality action plan to achieve this. Some of the key projects include:

Falls Prevention Program continues to see reduction in falls rates in last 3 years.
Management of Total Hip Joint Replacement - introduced Patient Pathway in conjunction with clinical pathway, improved preadmission education package, developing evaluation, strong support from orthopaedic surgeons.
Pressure Ulcer Wound Clinic - opened in 2006. Evaluation and further research in progress.
