What makes The Geelong Clinic special
We expect all our staff to provide the highest standards of care for our patients, and this means getting the fundamentals right too. From the moment they enter our hospital, all patients are treated with dignity and respect as well as receiving the best possible care. All requests are paramount and we will endeavour to comply with your needs. Our specialised programs include:
Inpatient Programs
We provide inpatient care to people suffering from psychiatric disorders such as depression, schizophrenia, mood disorders, panic and anxiety disorders, addiction and eating disorders. Patients are admitted under the supervision of a consultant psychiatrist.
Our programs are both structured and at the same time flexible to meet individual needs. On admission, our team assesses each individual and a personal treatment plan is developed.
Our daily therapy program provides a wide range of information and support to assist patients managing their illness and returning to a healthy and functional life within the community.
Post Traumatic Stress Disorder Program for Veterans
The Geelong Clinic conducts a 12 week Post Traumatic Stress Disorder program for Veterans and ex service men and women from the Australian Defence Force, involving a combination of education and therapy in both group and individual sessions. The program is accredited by the Australian Centre for Post Traumatic Mental Health, and includes modules on trauma, depression, anxiety, substance abuse, anger management and communication.
We also partner with the Veterans and Veterans Families Counselling Service. For more information, go to http://www.howareyoutravelling.org.au/
Eating Disorders Program
The eating disorder inpatient program is a specialised 40 day program that has been developed and designed to provide a comprehensive treatment program delivered by trained staff and tailored to the needs of individual clients.
The program assists clients to progress from the acute stage of the illness to a level where they are able to monitor and manage themselves with support and help from the treating team.
The program is guided by, and based on a clearly defined clinical pathway, and has been developed on the “LEAP philosophy”.
This model ensures a safe and trusting environment that fosters the restoration of healthy weight whilst exploring the underlying psychological issues that accompany the illness.
