Accreditation
The Sydney Clinic is accredited by the Australian Council on Healthcare Standards (www.achs.org.au), following our most recent accreditation survey on 2-3 February 2006. The necessary MA ratings were achieved for all criteria resulting in the awarding of a full 4 years accreditation with a commendation being received for:
- Information management regarding patient’s medical records.
The Sydney Clinic strives for continuous improvement in the quality of its services. We have developed and are continually reviewing our quality action plan to achieve this. Some of the key projects include:
- TSC has recently recruited a number of new RNs and ENs, some of these nurses are new to mental health nursing. A survey of these new nurses was conducted to assess attitudes/ideas/understanding of mental health nursing practice and an education program has been developed.
- The management of Alcohol Withdrawal Scales and the Diazepam loading regime were not being conducted consistently by nursing staff. An education program has been developed and is currently being conducted.
- The project was commenced to examine the effectiveness of the DBT Program. Patients expressed feelings that they needed to consolidate skills learnt in the previous program. A new program was designed to reach structured goals over a 3-month period. Patients are able to join and leave as required.
Please contact the General Manager if you have any questions about the accreditation or quality improvement program.
