Accreditation

Sydney Southwest Private Hospital is accredited by the Australian Council on Healthcare Standards (www.achs.org.au).  Our recent successful accreditation survey was 9-10 February 2006.

Sydney Southwest Private hospital strives for continuous improvement in the quality of its services.  We have developed and are continually reviewing our quality action plan to achieve this.  Some of the key projects include:

  • Postnatal Depression – minimizing the risk. Commenced 2005, this program aims at the early identification of women at risk of postnatal depression and provides follow-up care during the antenatal and postnatal period.  As a result, better relationships have been forged with community networks due to the improved referral systems, and increased staff awareness of the mother at risk of postnatal depression enabling provision of appropriate management.
  • Pre-operative Joint Clinic.  An information session covering the full impact of joint surgery encompassing all aspects from pre-admission, surgery, post-operative recovery, physiotherapy, exercise, the discharge process and return to normal life.
  • Southwest Clinic.  Opened in 2003, this clinic provides care for low risk patients suffering mood disorders, drug and alcohol addiction, and depression.  Counselling sessions, group therapy, psychologists and psychiatrists provide support and treatment individually and collectively on both inpatient and outpatient basis.

Please contact the General Manager if you have any questions about the accreditation or quality improvement program.
