Patient Fees
Darwin Private Hospital is committed to working with all users of our facilities to ensure that patients are provided with the information necessary to make an informed decision regarding the cost of their hospital admission.
The information provided by you on the admission forms will enable us to ensure that you have the appropriate health fund cover for your admission and allow us an opportunity to advise you if you have an excess or co-payment.
A member of our team will contact you to advise you if there are any miscellaneous costs and the options available to you for payment, which will be required prior to your admission.
Whilst every effort will be made to ensure you are notified prior to your admission if you will have any out of pocket expenses not covered by your private health insurance fund (such as excess payment, co-payment or private room charge) on occasion, advice of your admission is not received by the hospital prior to your arrival. In those circumstances, every effort will be made to process your health fund check as quickly as possible so that your admission is not delayed.
The hospital does not provide any information relating to the doctor’s fees however this information should be provided to you at the time your doctor advises you require hospital admission.
Insurance
What if you don’t have insurance?
You don’t need to have private health insurance to access our facilities – self-insurance is an option.
If you require an inpatient stay and wish to self-insure, just contact our accounts office and our staff will be happy to provide you with a quote. To assist them in providing you with the most accurate quote you will need to provide the following information:
- Name of your treating doctor
- Procedure for which you require admission
- Estimated length of stay (your doctor will advise you of this)
If you are unsure of any of the details for your admission our staff will, with your permission, contact your doctor and obtain the information required.
Payment prior to the procedure will be required and there are a number of finance options available to you. Our staff can provide information about those options.
You will be billed independently by your treating doctor for his or her professional services.
