Accreditation
Ringwood Private Hospital was surveyed at Periodic Review in June 2008, and a self assessment was conducted in 2009; we are undertaking our Organisation Wide Survey in May 2010 where we hope to continue to be awarded four years accreditation by the Australian Council on Healthcare Standards (www.achs.org.au). Commendations in our past reviews included:
- The high quality of pre-admission cancer care and support offered to all patients admitted with an Oncology diagnosis.
- The strong culture of continuous quality improvement – the survey team were impressed with the number of improvements which have occurred as a result of feedback from patient and staff surveys.
- Good, comprehensive risk management plan covering every conceivable risk.
Quality improvement activities currently being undertaken include:
- Development of Palliative Care service within the hospital including education of staff, private health funding, and increase in services available.
- Improved utilisation of human resources to ensure optimum level of patient care by centralising of allocation system, and reduction of agency usage.
- Involvement of consumers in the service delivery planning process to ensure maximum input regarding the needs of the wider community.
