Accreditation

Prince of Wales Private Hospital underwent an Organisation Wide Survey with the Australian Council on HealthCare Standard from 20th-22nd May 2009. Mandatory criteria ratings were achieved resulting in the award of a full four (4) year accreditation. 

We received ten (10) Excellent Achievement (EA) ratings for care planning, care evaluation, medication management, infection control, blood management, correct site procedures, quality improvement program, risk management, incident management and policies.

We are pleased to include some examples of the Excellent Achievement ratings achieved:

• Excellent achievement in the evaluation of care in Particulare the Rounding Project, an active process for seeking patient feedback about an episode of care.
• Excellent achievement in the implementation and compliance of Time Out procedures aligned with the patient consent process.
• Excellent achievement in the Prince of Wales Private Hospital commitment to improving the outcomes of care and service delivery thruogh Corporate, Executive and Departmental leadership and integrated systems.

Princes of Wales Private Hospital strives for continuous improvement in the quality of the services we provide. We have developed and are continually reviewing are quality action plan to achieve this. Some of the key projects include:

• Participation in the National Institutes of Clinical Studies Venous Thromboembolism (VTE) Prevention Project. The aim of this project is to improve the useo f venous thromboembolism prophylaxis that is known to be effective in reducing venous thromboemboli incidents.
• The Bookings and Beyond Project aims to streamline the patient booking, admission and assessment process to improve customer service and patient documentation.
• Evaluation of processes and customer satisfaction outcomes following the review of the maternity unit Little Luxuries program established in 2008 is underway to identify opportunities for improvement in customer service and risk management.
